Good Afternoon/Evening

I hope everyone's Father's Day went as well as mine did!

So on the lunch menu today I had a pita filled with spinach, turkey, and hummus with a mixed berry yogurt and grapes on the side.

I babysat this afternoon for 4 hours and let me tell you those two little girls really know how to keep me busy! Whew! From puzzles to coloring to hide-and-go-seek we played it all! Then we went for a walk (well I did, they were in the stroller) and it was HOT HOT HOT! This picture shows how they really felt about the whole situation...

They're really great kids though!
And in honor of Father's Day my Dad got to choose where we would go for dinner and he chose...
It was YUMMY! I made sure I only ate 1 breadstick even though I could have easily scarfed down 10! Those things are amazing!

I of course had a salad to start with

And my main entree was the Ravioli di Portobello

It was very yummy and filling despite it's size! I checked the nutrition value thanks to a handy application on my iPhone and found that this was one of the healthiest and looked the best!

And when I got home I was really craving the last bit of Ben & Jerry's Frozen Yogurt we had! Only about a scoop and a half but totally worth it!

Now I'm watching Stick It before I go on my run, which should be....interesting since I ate a little late! See ya in the morning!

Good Morning

...Okay technically it's 12:30, but I still feel like it's morning and I'm here to share my breakfast post!

First of all, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

I feel so blessed to have such a great dad! He's been my role model since I was a baby and I am most definitely a Daddy's Girl! I'll have to scan a few of my favorite pictures later on today of my Dad and me throughout the years! Here's a picture of us this morning before church and he's wearing his new watch I bought him! :

I haven't gotten too much accomplished this morning...bad I know...we went to church and I've been surfin' the web a little when I really should be reading. Summer projects for AP exams are not fun. I usually enjoy reading but I think it's only when I get to pick the book out. Some of these "classics" just bore me.

For breakfast I had the following ~

A bowl of honey nut cheerios with skim milk. [Sorry for the picture quality! I took it with my iPhone]

and after church I was a little hungry and we had some good-lookin' bananas! Call me weird but I've always liked mine a little on the green side!

Now I'm off to have some lunch before I go babysit for the afternoon! See you soon ~

About the Florida Girl

Hi, I'm Becky and I'm a soon-to-be senior in high school!

~ I'm originally from Michigan but I moved down to Florida in '98 with my family. Although we have glorious winters, the summers here make me wish I was back up north!
~ I absolutely LOVE to travel! I have not left the North American continent, but I will hopefully be traveling with my family during the summers of my college years.
~ My dream school is the University of South Carolina because my parents are moving there when I graduate from high school and it is drop dead gorgeous! However, in Florida there is a whole pre-paid program set up and financially FSU or UF are looking like my best bets!
~ I have two amazing miniature schnauzers named Lady and Lilly and they mean the world to me along with my family and friends!
~ I'm not exactly sure what I want to study in college, but I'm definitely leaning towards the medical field. I'm interested in nursing but at the same time I've really been looking at becoming a dietitian. But who knows what will happen!

Here's my little story...
As a kid I was always active playing soccer, softball, cheerleading, and horse-back riding. So eating-wise I did not think too much because I was burning off all these calories. But then I hit a rough spot around 8th grade where I wasn't as active because of my school work and all of the harder classes I was taking. But my eating habits hadn't changed. So I started gaining weight fast.

I became unhappy, refused to go to the beach because I feared bathing suits, and started trying all of these crazy diets. Nothing was working because I would become discouraged and give up. My last thing I tried was calorie-counting and that really didn't work. It made me unhappy and always upset because I was backing out of meals I wish I could have tried.

Now I'm trying the good ole eat healthy and exercise. I eat more veggies and fruit, less ice cream and chips, and I've started running. I know it will take time to build up my endurance to be able to run longer distances and time for me to lose weight, but I know in the end I will be happy and healthy. One of the most important things I have learned is to be happy with myself because I only live once and I want to live my life to the fullest.

Thanks for reading! <3
